Piper Companies is seeking an experienced Director of Network Planning and IT Automation to lead the strategy, scalability, and long-term evolution of a global network infrastructure environment. This role will partner with engineering, operations, product, and business leadership teams to develop network capacity strategies, drive infrastructure expansion initiatives, establish architecture standards, and advance automation capabilities that support business growth. This is a full-time remote opportunity looking to be located on the East Coast.
Responsibilities for the Director of Network Planning and IT Automation include:
· Leading long-range network planning efforts, including capacity forecasting, infrastructure prioritization, and investment planning to support business growth and customer demand.
· Developing network expansion strategies and deployment plans to ensure infrastructure readiness across existing and emerging markets.
· Partnering with engineering, operations, product, finance, and commercial teams to align network investments with organizational objectives and service requirements.
· Establishing and governing network architecture standards, design frameworks, and scalable deployment models across datacenter and metro network environments.
· Driving automation initiatives leveraging AI, Python, APIs, and workflow technologies to improve planning accuracy, forecasting, operational efficiency, and scalability.
· Leading governance, process improvement, risk management, and performance measurement initiatives to enhance execution consistency and infrastructure reliability.
· Communicating network strategy, roadmap priorities, and infrastructure recommendations to executive stakeholders and business leaders.
Qualifications for the Director of Network Planning and IT Automation include:
· 10+ years of experience in Network Planning, Network Architecture, Infrastructure Strategy, or Engineering Leadership roles within telecommunications, internet infrastructure, or datacenter environments.
· Deep knowledge of Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 network architectures, including fiber optics, transport systems, routing, switching, and large-scale datacenter networking.
· Proven experience developing architecture standards, capacity management programs, infrastructure roadmaps, and market expansion strategies for global network environments.
· Strong background in automation, AI-driven workflows, Python, APIs, and data-driven planning methodologies to improve operational performance and scalability.
· Demonstrated success leading cross-functional programs, influencing executive stakeholders, and driving complex infrastructure initiatives from strategy through execution.
· Experience establishing governance frameworks, operational processes, lifecycle management strategies, risk controls, and performance metrics.
· Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, and strategic decision-making skills.
Compensation for the Director of Network Planning and IT Automation includes:
· Salary range: $170,000 - $200,000 + Bonus
