Data Engineering & Backend Engineering Team

Piper Companies is seeking a Data Engineering & Backend Engineering Team (Multiple Openings) to support a large-scale data platform migration within the technology services industry. The Data Engineering & Backend Engineering Team (Multiple Openings) will play a critical role in accelerating an existing implementation by contributing to a high-impact, short-term, fully remote project focused on modernizing data infrastructure and application architecture. This initiative includes Principal, Senior Data Engineering, Backend, and Full Stack talent working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of the Data Engineering & Backend Engineering Team:

• Contribute to a large-scale migration from a legacy data platform to a modern, cloud-based architecture.

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using ETL processes and modern data tools.

• Develop and enhance backend services and APIs using Java in a cloud-native AWS environment.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate delivery timelines and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.

• Work within Snowflake and PostgreSQL environments to manage, transform, and validate large datasets.

• Utilize Informatica and other ETL tools for data ingestion, transformation, and migration workflows.

• Participate in new system build efforts while ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.

• Support full stack development efforts (where applicable) across frontend and backend components.

Qualifications of the Data Engineering & Backend Engineering Team:

• Experience levels ranging from Senior to Principal across Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, and Full Stack development.

• Strong proficiency in Java and backend system development.

• Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-based architectures.

• Strong experience with Snowflake and PostgreSQL databases.

• Proven background building and maintaining ETL pipelines and large-scale data systems.

• Familiarity with Informatica or similar data integration tools.

• Experience supporting or leading migration projects from legacy systems to modern platforms.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and remote delivery environment.

Compensation for the Data Engineering & Backend Engineering Team includes:

• Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experince
