IT Technician

Piper Companies is seeking an IT Technician to support a large-scale construction project onsite in Clayton, NC. The IT Technician will serve as a critical resource for day-to-day operational and infrastructure support, assisting with vendor coordination, hardware logistics, inventory management, and basic network connectivity tasks. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of IT concepts who enjoys a hands-on environment and can support a fast-paced project site.

Responsibilities of the IT Technician:

• Escort vendors and contractors within data center environments to ensure compliance with site access requirements.

• Receive, organize, and track incoming IT equipment and deliveries within the warehouse.

• Maintain accurate inventory records of hardware, networking equipment, and project assets.

• Travel throughout the project site to perform basic infrastructure support tasks, including connecting patch cables and verifying connectivity.

• Replace and deploy hardware components under established procedures and guidance.

• Coordinate with internal IT teams and external vendors to support project timelines and operational needs.

• Assist with equipment staging, asset management, and documentation efforts.

• Provide general onsite support for IT infrastructure activities as needed.

Qualifications of the IT Technician:

• 1+ years of experience in IT support, technical coordination, asset management, or a related field.

• Basic understanding of IT terminology, networking concepts, and hardware components.

• Experience handling inventory, shipping/receiving, or warehouse logistics preferred.

• Comfortable working within data center or construction site environments.

• Ability to follow established processes and maintain accurate documentation.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to lift and move IT equipment as needed.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with vendors, technicians, and project stakeholders.

• Must be available to work onsite five days per week in Clayton, NC.

Compensation for the IT Technician includes:

• Salary range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour depending on experience
