Sr. Software Engineer in Test

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a leading cybersecurity and compliance-focused organization. The Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) will lead quality engineering efforts for a platform that provides real-time visibility into Common Criteria (CC) certification programs, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and accuracy of project tracking, reporting, workflow automation, and certification data across multiple concurrent evaluations. The Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) can work remotely in Eastern Time Zone and is a long term contract opportunity.

Responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET):

• Design and implement the overall test strategy while building and maintaining automated testing frameworks from scratch for web applications, APIs, backend services, and data pipelines.
• Develop automated regression, integration, functional, end-to-end, performance, and reliability test suites to validate workflows, project tracking, reporting dashboards, notifications, and data synchronization.
• Validate integrations with Jira, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Confluence, GitHub, and other enterprise platforms while ensuring data integrity, auditability, and security requirements are met.
• Partner with engineering teams to establish quality gates within CI/CD pipelines, participate in architecture reviews, troubleshoot defects, and contribute to observability, monitoring, and quality metrics.
• Mentor engineers on test automation best practices and quality engineering principles.

Requirements of the Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET):

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in Software Testing, Quality Engineering, or SDET roles.
• Proven experience creating and implementing a test automation framework from scratch.
• Strong programming experience with Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or C#.
• Experience with API testing, automated testing frameworks, enterprise web applications, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Postman, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Common Criteria, cybersecurity compliance, regulated environments, Docker, Kubernetes, or security testing is preferred.

Compensation for the Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET):

• $120,000 - $145,000, depending on experience
