Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer to join a leading technology company in the network simulation and virtualization space. The Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting core platform services, virtualization infrastructure, automation frameworks, and cloud-based deployments that enable scalable network modeling and simulation environments. The Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer is a long term open ended contract opportunity.

Responsibilities of the Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer:

• Develop and maintain core simulation platform services, node drivers, and runtime components.
• Manage virtualization environments including Libvirt/KVM, Docker, Proxmox, Nutanix, VMware, and cloud platforms.
• Design, develop, and support REST APIs, SDKs, and automation integrations.
• Implement infrastructure automation solutions using tools such as Ansible and pyATS.
• Drive CI/CD processes, release management, and secure software development practices.
• Develop and maintain automated testing, performance testing, and monitoring solutions.

Requirements of the Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer:

• 5+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure development experience.
• Strong programming experience with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies including KVM, Libvirt, Docker, VMware, Proxmox, Nutanix, or Hyper-V.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs, SDKs, and automation solutions.
• Knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and monitoring tools.

Compensation for the Platform & Infrastructure Software Engineer:

• $90,000 - $160,000
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
