Sr. Software Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to support a healthcare startup company for a full time remote role based in the East Coast. The Sr. Software Engineer role will focus on greenfield opportunities and build out a platform from scratch for the startup's medical data.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Software Engineer:

• Design and build scalable platforms, web/mobile apps, and AI-driven workflows, shaping event-driven architecture, service boundaries, and long-term maintainability.
• Use AI-powered developer tools (code generation, testing, automation) to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
• Drive greenfield architecture decisions, including tech stack, service design, and infrastructure strategy.
• Implement robust security across application and infrastructure layers (secure coding, OWASP, DAST/SCA/SAST).
• Collaborate with product to scope MVPs, instrument features, and measure usage and ROI.
• Enhance SDLC processes, including testing, code reviews, CI/CD, performance, and developer experience.

Qualifications of the Sr. Software Engineer:

• 7-10+ years of experience required
• Full stack experience and comfortable working in back-end
• Experience using Typescript, React, Node, Postgres-SQL, and AWS
• Experience using AI to build and develop code
• Experience working in start-up environments as a founder engineer
• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or computer engineering or related field

Compensation for the Sr. Software Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $170,000 – $175,000 USD per year depending on professional experience
