Senior Software Engineer

Piper Companies is looking to hire a remote Senior Software Engineer. The Senior Software Engineer role supports a rapidly growing healthcare technology organization delivering value-based, community-oriented care to underserved populations. This Senior Software Engineer will help build a modern care platform that combines virtual care, community-based support, and AI-driven workflows to improve outcomes for complex patient populations.

Responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications and platform services using React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Own solutions from initial architecture and development through production deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.
• Participate in system design, architecture decisions, and greenfield development, helping establish engineering standards and platform direction.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools, including Claude and other AI-assisted workflows, to accelerate development, improve testing, and enhance delivery efficiency.
• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, high-performing applications while improving CI/CD processes, developer experience, and platform reliability.

Qualifications of the Senior Software Engineer:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience required; 10+ years strongly preferred building scalable web applications, backend services, and distributed systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or another engineering-focused discipline.
• Proven full-stack development experience with React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, and modern cloud-native application architectures.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools daily as part of the software development lifecycle, including code generation, testing, debugging, and workflow acceleration.
• Strong live coding and system design capabilities, with experience owning products from development through production deployment. Experience in both startup environments and larger organizations with mature engineering standards is highly preferred.

Compensation for the Senior Software Engineer includes:

Salary range: $170-$180K, 10% bonus.
