Piper Companies is hiring a FIPS Compliance Engineer for a global leader in networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology solutions. The FIPS Compliance Engineer will support the Security and Trust Organization Global Certification Team (GCT) by helping ensure networking, security, and cloud-managed products meet FIPS 140-3 compliance requirements. This is a contract position with the potential for permanent conversion.
Responsibilities of the FIPS Compliance Engineer:
- Execute FIPS 140-3 compliance initiatives across Cisco networking, security, and cloud-managed products.
- Support certification activities under the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP).
- Collect, organize, and maintain compliance evidence, validation artifacts, and certification documentation.
- Perform compliance gap assessments and reviews under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Review product configurations and cryptographic implementations for certification readiness.
- Partner with accredited test laboratories through validation, remediation, and certification efforts.
- Assist with the analysis of cryptographic libraries, key management processes, and security features.
- Participate in security design reviews, code reviews, and compliance planning meetings.
- Maintain awareness of evolving FIPS, NIST, CMVP, and related cybersecurity standards.
- Collaborate with software engineers, security teams, test engineers, and program managers.
Requirements of the FIPS Compliance Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- 0-5 years of professional experience.
- Familiarity with FIPS 140-3, NIST SP 800 Series, Common Criteria, or FedRAMP.
- Linux administration experience.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and secure development practices.
- Experience using testing and automation tools.
- Experience with Python, Java, C, or C++.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
- Security certifications such as Security+, Cisco CyberOps Associate, or equivalent.
- Exposure to Git and source control systems.
- Linux administration experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
