Piper Companies is hiring an Insurance Quality Analyst for an award-winning company located in the Raleigh-Durham Area. The Insurance Quality Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of our insurance products through comprehensive testing. The Insurance Quality Analyst is a hybrid position located in Durham, NC.


Responsibilities of the Insurance Quality Analyst:


  • Partner with business analysts, SMEs, and stakeholders to understand requirements and develop comprehensive test scenarios aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, execute, and maintain test cases for functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing across policy administration and financial systems.
  • Perform backend and data-focused testing, including validation of policy data, premium calculations, withdrawals, accounting transactions, and other business-critical processes. 
  • Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as JIRA, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution and retesting.
  • Conduct regression testing to verify system stability and ensure new enhancements do not negatively impact existing functionality.
  • Support UAT activities by providing test results, managing issue tracking, and assisting business users throughout the testing process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining test documentation, audit artifacts, and traceability to business requirements


Qualifications of the Insurance Quality Analyst:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6-10 years of Quality Assurance experience (up to 12 years considered), with a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test execution, defect management, and Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, specifically supporting life insurance and annuity products, with exposure to policy administration systems such as FAST, Vitech, OIPA, ALIP, CyberLife, WMA, or similar platforms.
  • Background in financial systems and processes, including Oracle GL, payroll-related functions, financial reconciliations, and calculation validation.
  • Hands-on experience with backend testing, including file-based testing, data validation, data comparisons, data integrity checks, and verification of complex business calculations.
  • Strong SQL, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience using test management and defect-tracking tools such as JIRA and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Primarily a manual testing role; candidates with a blend of manual and automation testing experience (e.g., Selenium) are preferred. UI and API testing are not required. Hybrid work schedule.

 

Compensation for the Insurance Quality Analyst:


  • $100,000-$120,000 base 
  • Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law
