Piper Companies is seeking a FIPS Engineer to support a growing client in the technology industry in the Raleigh-Durham (RTP), NC area. The FIPS Engineer role requires same onsite work in RTP, NC. The FIPS Engineer role is ideal for an early-career cybersecurity professional with a strong foundation in cryptographic standards, security compliance frameworks, and secure software development practices.
Responsibilities of the FIPS Engineer include:
• Support FIPS 140-3 validation efforts by assisting with documentation, testing, and compliance activities for cryptographic modules.
• Partner with engineering and security teams to evaluate products against NIST and Common Criteria requirements.
• Perform security assessments and validation testing to identify compliance gaps and recommend remediation strategies.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of secure software and cryptographic implementations within networking and security-focused products.
• Track evolving cybersecurity standards and regulatory requirements to help ensure ongoing certification readiness.
Requirements of the FIPS Engineer include:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related technical field.
• 1-2+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, cryptography, networking, secure software development, or a related area.
• Familiarity with FIPS 140-3, NIST cybersecurity standards, and Common Criteria compliance frameworks.
• Understanding of cryptographic algorithms, security protocols, and secure development best practices.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative technical environment.
Compensation for the FIPS Engineer include:
• $95,000 - $120,000 annually
