IT Technician

Piper Companies is seeking a IT Technician (BMS/FMS Support) for a long-term contract opportunity supporting a large-scale manufacturing and facilities technology environment in Clayton, North Carolina. This IT Technician (BMS/FMS Support) will play a critical role within the IT/OT organization, supporting the deployment and ongoing operation of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Facilities Management Systems (FMS) across a multi-building campus. The ideal candidate will bring a strong IT infrastructure background, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the communication skills needed to collaborate with vendors, technical teams, and business stakeholders in a fast-paced construction and operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical resource for IT-related issues impacting BMS and FMS platforms, ensuring reliable system connectivity and data collection across the facility.
• Troubleshoot network, server, controller, cabling, and communications issues involving firewalls, IP addressing, subnet configurations, ports, and industrial network protocols.
• Perform hands-on support within IDF rooms, telecommunications closets, network racks, and field locations to diagnose and resolve infrastructure and connectivity problems.
• Coordinate with internal IT/OT teams, facilities personnel, and external vendors to support system implementation, commissioning activities, and operational readiness.
• Deliver regular project updates and technical status communications to business stakeholders and leadership while supporting a successful site launch.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience in IT support, field services, network infrastructure, systems support, or a related technical environment.
• Hands-on experience working within IDF rooms, network racks, structured cabling environments, and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, Modbus communications, subnetting, firewall troubleshooting, port configuration, and network connectivity diagnostics.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, business users, and senior leadership regarding project status and issue resolution.
• Industry-recognized IT certification preferred, such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical credential.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000/year
