FIPS Certification Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a FIPS Certification Engineer to join a leading organization within the networking and cybersecurity industry for a long-term consulting opportunity. The FIPS Certification Engineer will work alongside experienced security professionals to support government-grade cryptographic validation efforts, regulatory compliance initiatives, and certification projects for enterprise security and networking solutions.

Responsibilities for the FIPS Certification Engineer include:

· Support cryptographic validation projects by assisting with adherence to FIPS 140-3 requirements and related security frameworks.

· Perform compliance testing, review security configurations, and document findings for certification activities.

· Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to gather evidence, assess gaps, and track remediation efforts.

· Partner with accredited testing organizations throughout validation, assessment, and certification processes.

· Create and maintain technical documentation, compliance artifacts, project deliverables, and certification records.

Qualifications for the FIPS Certification Engineer include:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

· 2-5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, networking, cryptography, compliance, or a related technical field.

· Working knowledge of FIPS 140-3, NIST Special Publications (SP 800 Series), Common Criteria, or other security compliance standards.

· Experience with Linux systems and familiarity with software development concepts using languages such as C++, Java, Python, or C.

· Understanding of networking and security technologies, including encryption, secure communications protocols, and secure software development practices.

Compensation for the FIPS Certification Engineer:

Salary Range: $95,000-$120,000/year (USD)
