Sr. Network Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to support a leading government services and defense-focused organization in the Fort Meade, MD area. The Sr. Network Engineer will serve as a technical leader responsible for enterprise-level network architecture, automation initiatives, and customer-facing consulting efforts. This Sr. Network Engineer opportunity is ideal for a seasoned engineer who can design complex solutions, advise clients as a trusted technical resource, and mentor junior engineering staff.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Network Engineer:

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale network infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing technical consultation, strategic recommendations, and architecture guidance.

• Lead network architecture and design initiatives for complex enterprise environments.

• Develop and maintain network automation solutions utilizing tools such as Python, Ansible, and related technologies.

• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues across routing, switching, and data center environments.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing network solutions.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across project teams.

• Support ongoing modernization efforts and recommend improvements to network performance, reliability, and security.

Qualifications of the Sr. Network Engineer:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.

• 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.

• CCIE certification required; CCNP Data Center will also be considered.

• Strong experience with network architecture, design, and implementation.

• Hands-on experience with network automation tools and scripting languages, including Python and Ansible.

• Proven ability to work directly with clients and serve as a trusted technical advisor.

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise accounts and complex networking environments.

• Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.

• Strong expertise in routing, switching, data center technologies, and network operations.

• Ability to work onsite five days per week in Fort Meade, MD.

Compensation for the Sr. Network Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $170,000 - $190,000 depending on experience
