Piper Companies is hiring a FIPS Certification Engineer for a Cloud and Technology company. The FIPS Certification Engineer will assist with testing, documentation, compliance assessments, and certification activities for networking and security products used by enterprise, government, and defense customers. The FIPS Certification Engineer role is a fully remote contract position.
Responsibilities of the FIPS Certification Engineer Include:
- Execute FIPS 140-3 compliance and certification activities for networking, security, and cloud-managed products, ensuring alignment with NIST and CMVP requirements.
- Support product validation efforts by performing compliance testing, reviewing cryptographic implementations, and documenting test results and remediation actions.
- Collaborate with accredited testing laboratories throughout pre-validation, certification testing, issue resolution, and final certification processes.
- Develop and maintain compliance evidence, technical documentation, certification packages, and validation artifacts required for regulatory audits and approvals.
- Participate in security assessments, cryptographic reviews, and product design evaluations to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with software engineers, security teams, test engineers, and program managers to track certification milestones, communicate results, and improve compliance readiness processes.
Qualifications of the FIPS Certification Engineer include:
- Ability to work in the U.S. with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 1-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, networking, cryptography, secure software development, or related technical disciplines.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure development practices, and software development fundamentals.
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks including FIPS 140-3, NIST SP 800 Series, Common Criteria, and related government security standards.
- Experience or academic exposure to cybersecurity, cryptography, networking, security testing, validation, or compliance-focused projects.
- Working knowledge of Linux, networking protocols, and programming/scripting languages such as Python, Java, C, or C++; security certifications such as Security+
Compensation for the FIPS Certification Engineer include:
- $120,000 - $145,000
- Contract
