Vision Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Vision Engineer for a full-time opportunity with an innovative organization in the agricultural technology and automation industry located in Raleigh, NC. The Vision Engineer will play a critical role in supporting commercial vision systems, enhancing production software performance, and helping bridge the gap between research and commercialized products through advanced computer vision and machine learning solutions.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain deployed vision software platforms while supporting performance, scalability, and long-term product reliability.
• Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to create proprietary tools that leverage existing software architecture and data resources.
• Utilize commercial and operational data to identify opportunities for product enhancements and new technology development initiatives.
• Validate software performance through structured testing, data analysis, and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Provide technical support for field-deployed systems, including occasional travel to customer locations for troubleshooting and system optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional experience developing software solutions with strong proficiency in Python and C#.
• Hands-on experience building computer vision, image processing, or machine learning applications within commercial environments.
• Experience working with SQL and database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Microsoft SQL Server, along with cloud platforms such as Azure.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000
• Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, sick leave if required by law, and 401K
