Linux Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer for a world leading technology organization in the United States. The Linux Systems Engineer role is a remote position focused on supporting and scaling data center and cloud infrastructure environments. The Linux Systems Engineer will own critical infrastructure tooling used to bootstrap and manage environments across AWS and on-premises data centers. An ideal candidate for the Linux Systems Engineer role is an experienced systems engineer with a strong background in Linux administration, VMware, NetApp storage, and bare-metal server environments.

Responsibilities of the Linux Systems Engineer:

• Own and maintain infrastructure tooling used to deploy, bootstrap, and manage environments across AWS and data center platforms.

• Administer and support Linux-based systems, virtualization platforms, storage infrastructure, and physical server environments.

• Manage and optimize VMware, NetApp, and bare-metal server infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.

• Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to automate operational processes and improve platform scalability.

• Support Kubernetes-based environments and assist with container platform administration and troubleshooting.

Qualifications of the Linux Systems Engineer:

• 4+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related role.

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, including Ubuntu or other enterprise Linux distributions.

• Experience supporting VMware, NetApp storage solutions, and bare-metal server environments within data centers.

• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure services and automation tools used for provisioning and system management.

• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments.

Compensation for the Linux Systems Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $125,000 – $155,000 depending on experience
