Sr. Linux Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Engineer to join an innovative organization focused on infrastructure transformation and cloud adoption initiatives. The Sr. Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting enterprise infrastructure, maintaining data center environments, and enhancing tools that streamline infrastructure deployment and provisioning within AWS. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity that offers remote work anywhere within the United States.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Linux Systems Engineer:

• Manage and support enterprise infrastructure across both physical and virtualized data center environments.
• Maintain and improve tooling used for infrastructure provisioning and cloud integration within AWS.
• Provide administration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support for Linux-based production systems.
• Implement, manage, and support VMware virtualization technologies and NetApp storage platforms.
• Build, deploy, and maintain bare metal server infrastructure within enterprise data centers.
• Partner with cloud and infrastructure teams to enhance automation, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.
• Contribute to Kubernetes administration and support containerized environments when required.
• Monitor system health, resolve technical issues, and drive infrastructure best practices.

Requirements of the Sr. Linux Systems Engineer:

• 7+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, or a related infrastructure role.
• Strong Linux administration experience, preferably with Ubuntu, though experience with Red Hat or similar distributions is also considered.
• Hands-on experience managing VMware virtualization environments.
• Experience supporting NetApp storage solutions in enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to build, deploy, and maintain bare metal server infrastructure.
• Experience working with AWS environments and cloud-focused initiatives.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation, orchestration, and provisioning tools.

Compensation for the Sr. Linux Systems Engineer:

• $125,000 - $155,000
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, company holidays, and sick leave where applicable.
