Sr. DevOps Engineer

Piper Companies is hiring a Sr. DevOps Engineer for a Cloud and Technology company. The Sr. DevOps Engineer will influence technical decisions across centralized platform APIs, reusable CI components, continuous delivery workflows, service onboarding, federal promotion automation, and paved-road platform capabilities. The Sr. DevOps Engineer role is a remote position. 

Responsibilities of the Sr. DevOps Engineer Include:

• Lead the architecture, strategy, and technical direction of Platform Services supporting FedRAMP High and IL5 environments.
• Design and enhance platform capabilities including Kubernetes-based deployment systems, ArgoCD workflows, platform APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and federal promotion automation.
• Create and maintain scalable "golden path" solutions that enable engineering teams to onboard, deploy, and operate applications efficiently and securely.
• Drive the automation of manual operational, deployment, and compliance processes to improve reliability, auditability, and deployment consistency.
• Partner with engineering, security, and operations teams to lead architecture reviews, resolve technical challenges, and ensure platform readiness and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers and represent Platform Services in planning, risk reviews, and technical discussions, promoting engineering best practices and high-quality system design.

Qualifications of the Sr. DevOps Engineer include:

• 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Operations, or Distributed Systems, including technical leadership across complex, multi-team initiatives.
• Excellent communication, architecture review, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong object-oriented programming background with hands-on experience in Python, Go, Ruby, Java, or similar languages, along with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, CI/CD pipelines, deployment orchestration, AWS, and operating highly available production environments.
• Proven ability to build platform tooling, deployment systems, and self-service "golden path" solutions that improve developer experience and operational efficiency.
• Strong understanding of reliability, observability, security, incident response, and translating compliance requirements into scalable engineering solutions; FedRAMP High, IL5, GovCloud, or regulated environment experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, architecture review, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.

Compensation for the Sr. DevOps Engineer include:

• $150,000-$175,000
