Business Intelligence Engineer III

Piper Companies is seeking a BI Engineer III to join a growing organization in the travel industry. The BI Engineer III will be able to work independently in a fully remote environment. The BI Engineer III will be the primary business-facing member of the data team, partnering with stakeholders to design, develop, and optimize reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations
• Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions
• Develop and maintain semantic models to support consistent business reporting and self-service analytics
• Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting, analysis, and ad hoc requests
• Monitor report performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy and reliability
• Support Power BI administration, governance, and performance tuning initiatives
• Conduct user training sessions and provide support for reporting-related inquiries
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and QA teams to improve reporting capabilities and data accessibility

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Reporting, or a related field
• Expert-level experience with Power BI development, administration, and performance optimization
• Strong SQL and semantic modeling experience
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical reporting solutions
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with data modeling concepts and reporting best practices
• Knowledge of DAX required; experience with Python, R, Git, or GitHub is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary for the BI Engineer is around $120,000-$140,000.
