Senior Staff Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join a leading organization in the medical technology industry and work onsite in Durham, NC. The ideal Senior Staff Systems Engineer will lead the development and lifecycle management of advanced pharmacy automation products, driving systems engineering efforts across complex electromechanical and robotic solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities of the Senior Staff Systems Engineer:

• Lead systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development to post-market support.
• Define and maintain system requirements, architecture, and design specifications.
• Conduct system-level risk assessments, FMEA, and hazard analyses.
• Develop and execute verification and validation plans to ensure product performance and quality.
• Partner with software, hardware, and cross-functional engineering teams to support product development and integration.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues using root cause analysis techniques.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and tools.

Qualifications of the Senior Staff Systems Engineer:

• 8+ years of systems engineering experience with electromechanical and robotic products.
• Strong understanding of the full product development lifecycle for complex systems.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama Connect.
• Knowledge of risk management methodologies, FMEA, and hazard analysis.
• Experience developing and executing verification and validation activities.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. Master's preferred.

Compensation for the Senior Staff Systems Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000 annually depending on experience.
