Piper Companies is seeking a Sr Staff Systems Engineer to support the development and lifecycle management of advanced pharmacy automation solutions for a leading healthcare technology organization. The Sr Staff Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership across complex electromechanical and robotics products, focusing on systems architecture, requirements, risk management, verification and validation, and regulatory compliance. The Sr. Staff Systems Engineer is a Contract to Hire opportunity and allows you to work Hybrid in Durham, NC.
R̲e̲s̲p̲o̲n̲s̲i̲b̲i̲l̲i̲t̲i̲e̲s̲ o̲f̲ t̲h̲e̲ S̲r̲ S̲t̲a̲f̲f̲ S̲y̲s̲t̲e̲m̲s̲ E̲n̲g̲i̲n̲e̲e̲r̲:
• Lead systems engineering activities for pharmacy automation products throughout the full product lifecycle, including system requirements, architecture, design, and post-market support.
• Perform system-level risk assessments, FMEA, hazard analysis, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting for complex electromechanical systems.
• Develop and execute verification and validation plans, protocols, and system-level testing to ensure product performance and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and cross-functional engineering teams while providing technical leadership, supporting design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools.
R̲e̲q̲u̲i̲r̲e̲m̲e̲n̲t̲s̲ o̲f̲ t̲h̲e̲ S̲r̲ S̲t̲a̲f̲f̲ S̲y̲s̲t̲e̲m̲s̲ E̲n̲g̲i̲n̲e̲e̲r̲:
• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive systems engineering experience, including significant experience with complex electromechanical and robotics products.
• Expertise across the product development lifecycle, including systems architecture, requirements, integration, verification and validation, and risk management.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama Connect and methodologies including FMEA and hazard analysis.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
C̲o̲m̲p̲e̲n̲s̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ f̲o̲r̲ t̲h̲e̲ S̲r̲ S̲t̲a̲f̲f̲ S̲y̲s̲t̲e̲m̲s̲ E̲n̲g̲i̲n̲e̲e̲r̲:
• Salary range: $120,000 - $180,000
