Security Engineer, Application
Piper Companies is seeking a Security Engineer, Application to join a growing organization in the healthcare and insurance industry. This hybrid position is based in Richmond, VA or Lynchburg, VA, with onsite requirements Tuesday through Thursday. The Security Engineer will support application security initiatives, vulnerability management, and DevSecOps practices across cloud and enterprise environments.
Responsibilities for the Security Engineer, Application:
- Support application security testing and vulnerability management tools
- Partner with development teams to identify and remediate security risks
- Participate in threat modeling, security reviews, and risk assessments
- Assist with CI/CD security, cloud security, and DevSecOps initiatives
- Track security findings, metrics, and remediation efforts
- Support compliance, governance, and security improvement projects
Qualifications for the Security Engineer, Application:
- 3+ years of experience in Application Security, Security Engineering, or DevSecOps
- Experience with vulnerability scanning, AST tools, and cloud security technologies
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
- Understanding of threat modeling and secure SDLC practices
- Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST security frameworks
- Scripting or programming experience with languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or PowerShell
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
Compensation & Benefits for the Security Engineer, Application:
- Salary range of $77,800 - $117,000 plus bonus eligibility
