Senior Splunk Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Splunk Engineer to support a cybersecurity program focused on enterprise security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response. This position is on-site in Newington, VA. The Senior Splunk Engineer will serve as the technical subject matter expert responsible for designing, administering, and optimizing Splunk environments to enhance security visibility, detection capabilities, and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities for the Senior Splunk Engineer include:

• Architect, deploy, administer, and maintain Splunk Enterprise in a large-scale distributed environment
• Develop and optimize correlation searches, dashboards, data models, detection content, and alerting capabilities
• Lead data onboarding efforts, including parsing, normalization, CIM mapping, and integration of security and operational data sources
• Perform system health checks, troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity planning, and platform optimization
• Collaborate with SOC, Threat Intelligence, and Security Engineering teams to improve threat detection, threat hunting, and incident response operations

Required Qualifications for the Senior Splunk Engineer include:

• 10+ years of experience in Splunk engineering, SIEM administration, cybersecurity monitoring, security analytics, or security operations
• Hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise, log management, event correlation, alert tuning, detection engineering, and Splunk architecture
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, firewall, IDS/IPS, cloud, and network security logs, with scripting experience in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance

Compensation for the Senior Splunk Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $175,000 - $195,000 depending on experience
