JOB DESCRIPTION
Piper Companies is looking for a Remote Systems Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity near Ashburn, VA working with a Data Center Technology company whose singular focus is to deliver the highest levels of performance and security from cloud and colocation hosting solutions within the Financial, Healthcare, Small Enterprise, and Government industries. The Systems Engineer will work alongside the CTO providing support to data centers in Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Fremont, Richmond, and San Antonio but will focus the majority of their time on the Ashburn, VA location. Ideal candidates will have a diverse background in enterprise level systems and networking and advanced infrastructure technologies, including VMware and Cisco.
Responsibilities for the Remote Systems Engineer include:
- 50% remote support for the Ashburn, VA data center client, 50% remote support of multiple data centers across the US
- Work directly with end-client to provide general maintenance, troubleshoot outages, meet regulatory compliance, and handle data center connectivity
- Cloud infrastructure support
- Disaster recovery services
- Occasional in person support
- On-call shift rotations when needed
Qualifications for the Remote Systems Engineer include:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Systems and/or Network Engineering working within large scale data centers
- Expert level Windows Server experience
- Experience with VMware hosting- vSphere and vCloud
- Hands on networking experience working with Cisco routers and switches (Nexus series), ASAs, Firewalls and setting up VPN tunnels
- Degree not required, CCNA level of expertise preferred
- Experience in SharePoint administration preferred
- Exposure to MS SQL is a plus
- Skills not required but would add benefit: Linux, MySQL, CentOS, Redhat, Apache, LAMP stack
Compensation for the Remote Systems Engineer include:
- Ability to work from home
- Salary Range: $70,000-85,000 based on experience
