Backend Elixir Developer

qPiper Companies is seeking an experienced Backend Elixir Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems for modern web applications. The Backend Developer will play a critical role across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to system architecture, backend services, and cloud infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and influence architectural decisions in a collaborative engineering environment. This is a contract opportunity with the ability to convert over a period of time and is located remotely within Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities for the Backend Elixir Developer include:

·      Participating in the full application lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

·      Designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services and APIs that power web-based applications.

·      Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.

·      Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing backend systems to ensure high availability and optimal performance.

·      Developing and maintaining unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality and system stability.

·      Collaborating closely with front-end engineers to integrate user-facing elements with backend logic and services.

Qualifications for the Backend Elixir Developer include:

·      3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Developer or Software Engineer.

·      Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

·      Proficiency with cloud infrastructure and services, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).

·      Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Terraform.

·      Solid experience working with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.

·      Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems and server environments.

·      Hands-on experience designing and consuming APIs using REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, gRPC, or other remote procedure call (RPC) technologies.

·      Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols such as TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, BGP, Dot1Q, and QinQ.

·      Familiarity with Elixir or functional programming paradigms is a plus.

Compensation for the Backend Elixir Developer includes:

·      Salary range: $100,000 - $135,000
