Senior Backend Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to support an industry leader in financial services for a 6 month contract remote role. The Senior Backend Engineer role will be responsible for working in an agile environment to empower web application in wealth management domain.

Responsibilities of the Senior Backend Engineer:

• Deliver high quality, innovative and maintainable software solutions in an agile environment.
• Performing application maintenance and ensuring information security controls
• Provide timely status updates, issue resolutions, and step-by-step instructions on usability questions
• Collaborate with Product, Execution, and other support teams to resolve or escalate user inquiries

Qualifications of the Senior Backend Engineer:

• 6+ years of experience developing enterprise solutions across multiple technology platforms, programming languages, and Data platform.
• Expertise in batch job development along with backend development in Java/Python, using an API-first approach to build scalable systems.
• Navigate and understand existing backend systems and map or migrate them to similar cloud/infrastructure setups
• Expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and system reliability
• Strong experience using Java, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, and modern web application technologies.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including deployment and architecture best practices.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
